‘Hot On Road’ is the vehicle designed by All-Star Marketing & Media to promote music originating from British Black Music makers only! We have developed a 75+ member strong DJ network, a 15 member strong radio station network and of course the official ‘Hot On Road’ Top 20 chart!
The ‘Hot On Road’ chart - made up exclusively of tracks hailing from these shores - is a further boost to the UK’s ever growing black music industry.
The chart is already published in key urban music publications and an accompanying chart show has been picked up by a number of radio stations nationwide, including BBC and Galaxy. The inaugural ‘Hot on Road’ chartshow was launched on 29th April 2006 when it was broadcast on Bristol’s Passion FM, Birmingham’s Kriss FM and on the World Wide Web via www.invincibleradio.com.
Top club and radio DJs from Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield, Newcastle, Ipswich, London and surrounding areas submit entries to the chart. Many of them are involved in community radio stations, highlighting the fact that the ‘underground’ urban music scene is an essential component in the eventual mainstream success of an artist.
Traditionally excluded from mainstream radio, UK urban music is heavily reliant on club DJs and community radio for building a fan base and getting heard. The ‘Hot on Road’ chart lets labels and artists see just how well their tracks are being received by DJs, who hold the key to the growth and success of an urban artist. As Ade, CEO of All-Star Marketing & Media says: “DJs are the stepping stones from the studio to the streets; the tastemakers and trendsetters of the UK urban music industry. DJs’ invaluable opinions help artists, producers and record labels keep track of their success on road and on the underground as they move ever closer to the mainstream.”
The ‘Hot On Road’ chart is influencing all specialist music playlisting! We have DJ’s in our network from all major commercial brands including 1Xtra, Radio 1, Choice FM, Galaxy and Kiss FM. Their tastes and chart contributions directly influence what gets added to playlists.
We are using our contacts with our DJ and radio networks to promote all good quality British Black music. If you have a track that you believe deserves to get airplay send it to us and we will gladly distribute it (digitally) for free! Send tracks, biogs and press releases to: hotonroad@gmail.com
