keep the buzz going. It wasn’t plain sailing cos we had to get our views and points across and make sure that our initial work didn’t get lost, and also to keep the momentum going.

Hot!: How much promotional work were you doing at that time?

Nathan: I did hundreds of shows around Come Into My Room. I was doing at least 2 -3 shows every day, plus interviews and stuff. It was a very hectic schedule, but I enjoyed it.

 

Hot!: You must have been stacking serious paper!?!?

Nathan: Bwoy me cahnt discuss dem terms!! (laughs) The main thing for me is that I’m doing what I love. It’s a blessing to be able to do what I love and get paid for it. Even if I wasn’t being paid well for it, I’d be happy cos people don’t often get to do what they love anyway.

 

Hot!: Did you really begin to believe that all your hard work would pay off and get you in the national charts?

Nathan: All you can do is put in hard work and hopefully it pays off, but you can’t help but get excited when people are telling you your tune should be #1. So I couldn’t believe what happened [when it all went wrong]. But now I believe it because I see how the market is and how the UK is. In the beginning I asked what happened and where did we go wrong because we have to identify those things and make sure they don’t happen again.

 

Hot!: You were doing all the road work, radio, press etc and it’s looking good. When did you realise something was wrong? Was it before the release date?

Nathan: There is never really a point like that where you think something is ‘wrong’. Nothing is ever plain sailing, so there is always something else that you could have done better or (continue...)
