It’s HARD to believe that despite a trailer load of underground anthems and the kind of street R.E.S.P.E.C.T. that Aretha sings about, Suncycle are still Unsigned Hype!

It’s been four years since Suncycle burst onto the UK music scene with underground killer cuts like ‘Somebody’. Back then - with major labels in hot pursuit - North Weezy’s reggae warriors seemed destined for mainstream crossover success. However, signing on the dotted line went from being “inevitable” to something that seemed “never to be” and along the way some of the Suncycle soldiers fell by the wayside or decided to pursue solo careers.

Without the drive and determination of founding member Dolamite, this may certainly have heralded the end of an era but he ensured that the Suncycle movement survived. Today, with the commitment of surviving members Babychann and Lanty, the new slimmed down version of the group is back on the grind and back on top!

Suncycle are once again achieving anthem-like status, ruling the airwaves and bursting out of car stereos from Harlesden to Handsworth and St Pauls to Moss Side. Babychann’s collaboration with Beenie Man on the ‘Hmm, Hmm’ bootleg remix rose all the way to the top of the ‘Hot On Road’ chart and caused a storm on their recent UK Reggae Warriors carnival tour of London, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol.

Come November, the Suncycle bandwagon starts rolling again with the release of a brand new double mix CD and the introduction of the Suncycle Sound System featuring UK Dubplate Champion Shaun Powers. This month will also see the release of the irresistible and long awaited new single ‘No Mercy’.

Hot On Road got a glimpse of the future at the exclusive Suncycle Sound System launch party. A set from Shaun Powers had the room smoking and a live performance from Suncycle left an unforgettable impression, reminiscent of the Fugees in their early days. Believe me the comparisons are real!

This group are undoubtedly Hot! and should’ve been signed a LONG time ago with images of Dolamite, Babychann and Lanty blinging in big budget videos and twenty foot roadside poster campaigns! But until some hot shot young A&R person grows some balls Suncycle will continue to churn out underground classics, shot CD’s on road and proudly hold onto the title of Unsigned HYPE!

……………..Move over Fugees ‘cause these yout’s are unstoppable!
